In this CD Ernest Cholakis extracts the feel of one of the world's great Reggae drummers from the original acoustic sessions recorded in Jamaica at the Mixing Lab. Included are 150 otherwise impossible-to-get Dancehall loops by Sly for hits including Shabba Ranks, Maxi Priest, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Apache Indian, Snow, Cutty Ranks, Black Uhuru, Yellowman, Gregory Isaacs. This CD is a chronology of the past, present and future of Reggae music. Sly plays the numerous styles of Reggae and Ska, then opens the vault to his Dancehall grooves, which can only be described as a sonic hurricane. Dubbed the Riddim Twins, Sly and Robbie pioneered the fusion of Hip Hop and Reggae that is today taking the charts by storm - Dancehall Reggae has left a trail of music rich in rhythm and bass. For years he has set new standards for dance music using his unique blend of Reggae, Funk and Hip Hop with his longtime associate Robbie Shakespeare. We do vary the sound by using the same pattern but using other single shots and adding other elements for a more distinct sound, its not the same loop playing throughout the whole song, you cant honestly judge from just hearing 1 song and sayin oh its all the same, if you really listen then you can get a basic understanding, but like mentioned above this is something we feel more importantly they can create as many Sample Libraries/SoundSets/Loops for commercial distribution but unless you've lived it from the start I can assure you, you dont have the same vibe or intention we do, anyone truly interested you can contact me, check out my soundcloud for recent releases, I currently work with one of the top production duos in Reggaeton as of now, so I'm not just talkin out my ass.Sly Dunbar needs no introduction, he is one of the world's greatest drummers. ![]() ![]() I'm happy to say that it has evolved into a lot more musical genre compared to how the music was about 5-10 years ago when it was strictly repeated loops or US hip hop instrumentals, we are constantly creating by combining relevant genres to keep the movement going and grab the attention of different audiences, it has it's moments.like right now there is a distinct sound that EVERYONE is going for sort of like the "808" in hip hop or the fusion of EDM into pop music, we love our strings, leads, synths, and arps and focus heavily on our drum patterns, yes we use the same pattern! (get over it!) thats what makes it reggaeton, its like eliminating sample usage from hip hop or synths from electronic music. ![]()
